What ELSE is going on in our house

Even though it's summer for most of the kids, it's back to the grindstone for Hannah.  And back to the weekly homework packet for me.

I discovered these 3 boys watching Tangled this morning and promptly sent them OUTSIDE.  Even though this movie contains one of the top ten Disney songs ever.  Because morning is the time to play outside, and afternoon, when it's triple digits, blazing hot out, is the time to lay around and do nothing.

Eli's reaction was to shoot at me.  Boys!

Brianna was on the computer this morning, printing the next pattern section to her current knitting project, a hooded scarf.  She's finished the scarf section, and is ready to start the hood.

We recently watched this movie, as we had read aloud a biography of Gladys Aylward when we studied China.  We talked about differences between the book and the movie, and we also discussed Hollywood racial prejudices of the 1950s (the main characters are not actually Asian).

Jack got this game for his birthday, which renewed his interest in his Leap Pad, so we finally connected the LP to the computer and downloaded the 4 free apps that came with it.  Yeah, yeah, he got it for Christmas last year.  I kept meaning to get to it.  But now, he's got something new (and FREE) to 1) capture his attention, and 2) sneak something educational into his day without being obvious about it.

Speaking of apps...  We are going to be posting a review of an app next month.  Eli started playing with it today, and I can already tell it's going to be a winner.  Stay tuned.

Annaliese, my graduate, has 2 job interviews today!  Pretty exciting!

Paul has Josiah and Samuel busy working on projects around the house and yard, which is AWESOME, because bored teen boys are a bad thing.  And because whatever they accomplish is something that Paul doesn't have to do himself, which means he can potentially be doing something *I* want him to do instead!  (Poor guy.)

And I leave for China in 4 days!

Vote For Us @ Top Mommy Blogs  So, here's the thing.  Blogging from China via the iPad, I won't be able to add my cute little widget button at the bottom of each post.  So if you could remember to click on the box at the TOP of the left sidebar while you read my trip updates NEXT WEEK (dude, I'm so excited), that would be awesome.  And, um, click now, if you haven't already clicked for us today.  Thanks!

  1. Shecki, you're good people (as Fred Rutherford would say on Leave it to Beaver). (:

I enjoy reading your blog, and I'm glad to know you. Congratulations, by the way, on getting to hold and get to know your newest little one in China! Thanks for sharing the journey with us all!
